Sandwell District come back to the fray after their well-received Avon/Cally remixes 12”, this time inviting John Mendez (Cytrax/Delay/Force Inc) to come up with his special brand of minimalism. The A-side is deep as you like, and first track ‘Silence' is a gloriously grainy drift of beatless tones and textures, like the descent into a slightly unsettling dream. ‘Death To The Traveller' introduces some crisp beats, but keeps things subtle, almost subliminal.

With dubbed stabs and maybe a nod to Basic Channel/Monolake, and washes of sonar bleepiness and distant vocals that keeps things edgy. Onthe flip there's ‘Murder Murder' which is a slightly fleshier number that features some more obvious references to the current minimal techno scene.
