One half of mesmerizing techno duo Closer Musik, Matias Aguayo, has truly delivered here for Soul Jazz (check his amazing Closer Musik LP and artist debut LP on Kompakt). The EP opens with the deliciously sparse, mid-tempo 'Argento' - an exotic 'new wave' disco-dub affair that's laced with haunting mantras. The tempo changes slightly as the EP progresses and the percussion intensifies with 'Uno' and 'Papel Original'- from out of nowhere, we're introduced to the alluring, bizarre and colourful sounds of Aguayo's South American roots. The Cumbian rhythms are omnipresent as the EP draws to a close with the beautiful melancholy of 'Lineas'... If you're a fan of Luciano's playfully exotic brand of techno or Villalobos' more esoteric take on the genre, then we can't recommend this EP enough!
