Kyall, Miss Dynamite / Cecile
Jamaican Judgement / The Application (punchline)
Dub / Reggae
In the wake of their release of Daddy G's chart-topping re-rub of the biggest reggae tune in the world this summer - Welcome To Jamrock - Punchline are back with a one drop reggae remix of the UK urban scene's biggest star, Ms Dynamite. Jamaican Judgement was put together by Swedish producer Kyaal - the man behind last year's reggae remixes of Destiny's Child (Lose My Breath) and Akon (Locked Up), which he made available for free online. They were subsequently pressed up and sold all around the world, receiving extensive club and radio play from the likes of BBC 1Xtra and Choice FM. Kyaal has also produced riddims for Swedish reggae label Hi Score and now he's hooked up with punchilne for this dark, apocryphal mix of the lead single from Ms Dynamite's latest album. On the flip, London top dancehall boys Heatwave are back once again to prove that they lead the way in the world of dancehall remixes. This trsck features a lyric by top Jamaican female artist Cecile, who calls out the names of various male contemporaries in the dancehall scene, making it clear that none of them measure up to her exacting standards. The head-nodding hip hop beat and infectious chorus provide the perfect backdrop for Cecile's musings on the shortcomings of Buju, Beenie, Bounty and the rest...
