Ira Cohen - The Invasion Of Thunderbolt Pagoda

The Invasion Of Thunderbolt Pagoda (Saturnalia)

Sorry, out of stock.

Often claimed to be the only psychedelic film ever made, it pips Alexandro Jodorowsky or anyone like that to the post simply because it uses psychedelic effects in the camera work and music.

Similar in style to the work of Jack Smith, it's a continuous semi-narrative cornucopia of deranged psychedelic/occult images, amazing costumes and all manner of beautifully wasted debauchery, set to original velvet underground drummer Angus Maclise's great pounding, primitive trancy soundtrack.

On the other hand on this spectacularly generous DVD there are alternative soundtracks from Acid Mothers Temple, Sunburned hand of man and a commentary from Cohen. Plus the Mylar Chamber slide show, Brian Damage, a film from 2006 and a short film on Cohen by his son.
