Russell Haswell and Florian Hecker created this digitally recorded mixed and mastered album from the UPIC system at the Centre Creation Musicale Iannis Xenakis. The UPIC system turns graphical imagery into sound, and Haswell states in the sleeve notes that the design of the music on this album is to aid Synaesthesia. Haswell and Hecker aren't wrong here, the spectral music they create is incredibly psychedelic, played at loud volumes, the clusters of sound hang in the air and pour out of the speakers in shapes and sweeps, the quality of the tones the machine produces are dense and rich. This is quite incredible stuff, and very different from the more malevolent previous work of both artists.
