Electro
After his string of really great electro singles on respected labels Frustrated Funk, Point. One, Kondi and Device, Citinite take the Gosub project to the next step in its natural progression. Using nothing but ancient analogue technology and his trademark low-slung basslines and melodies, Gosub delves further into the unknown. "Watchers From The Black Universe" is his first full-length album since the 1999 Isophlux classic. Taking us from Detroit, through TO Brooklyn and then to Berlin, out to the extreme reaches of the black universe. Using ancient analogue technology and his trademark low-slung basslines and melodies, Gosub delves further into the unknown. This album begins with the dark drive of 'The Rain Comes Down', its strong vocals and powerful lead lines hit home with the veracity and sadness of irreversible loss. Deeper in is the astro-funk of 'Last Night At The Stardust', the asymmetrical 'Short Phase', sexual exposure in 'Love Like The Past' heavy electrotech funk at its best, and 'Laugh Track', with its creepy lyrics and vintage C64 drums. All in all, Gosub's "Watchers From The Black Universe" delivers well on the promise of those singles, with an album that's more than satisfying.
