The All Tomorrows Parties label have a real knack of picking up great and unusual bands that sit somewhere within the world of indie-rock but are always that bit more adventurous.
Deerhoof are no different, that bit more imaginative, they pull together disparate musics like Tropicalia, rock n roll and big riffy Sabbath-like metal into an angular math rock musical frame, with brilliant drumming, melody and fun being the most important elements. This is a really great album and hopefully an indicator that rock music will start to get a lot more imaginative this year. Artwork by David Shrigley too.
