Angles (Sunday Best)
Electronica Experimental Hip Hop
With a calling card as sharp as last years ' Thou Shalt..' single you'd hope the album would follow suit with the same whit and strange depth as that single.
So the album follows with the same qualities, funny, and sharp, occasionally bordering on the preachy but with enough stimulating ideas to make it easy to swallow. Scroobius Pip's ideas range from Tommy Coopers magic as an analogy for the depth of beauty, the tales of 'Magicians Assistant', about self harm, the rather nice Radiohead chop ups of 'Letter from God to Man', he cuts a strange figure as a rapper, rather more emotive and personal than most, but that's the point.
Dan Le Sac's music is unconventional too, pulling in references from all over the spectrum, drum and bass, grime, indie rock and forcing them into a backing for Scroobius life affirming words.
The LP version also includes the full cd album and a poster with lyrics.
