Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Born Ruffians are three post adolescent boys who make a wired minimal punk thats also sweet and catchy, punctuated by the kind of hollerin' and hootin' that betrays their Canadian roots.
Their debut album Red Yellow and Blue is produced by none other than Animal Collective and Panda Bear producer Rusty Santos, it's easy to make comparisons, but essentially Born Ruffians are a much poppier band.
Red Yellow and Blue is a strong collection of charming, catchy songs, wrapped up in what sounds like an intuitive but quirky musical style, with lyrics that are warm, youthful and romantic, open and hummable. It's a joyful and colourful album in a grey indie world and that's no bad thing at all.
