Appleblim's done the new mix in the Dubstep Allstars series. In the future these mixes will probably be seen as a kind of audio guide through the transitions and key artists within the dubstep scene.
This mix takes in the twin influences of early dubstep, when it still had a distinct relationship with 2-step, plus the pioneering Berlin sound of Basic Channel, absorbing dubby, warm techno influences along side 2-step's skipping beats, moving beyond the moody darkness and wobbly basslines that have dominated the sound recently, into more crisp optimistic sounds.
Tracks are from Peverelist, Pinch, Mungo's Hi Fi , Martyn, TRG, 2562, Skream and others. This is an essential series but this is one of our favourites so far!
